One of the main features of this firm were, their skill and expertise in handling a wide spectrum of cargoes viz., agri-based commodities like wheat, sugar, pulses, corn, soya, fruits, cotton bales (both the American and Egyptian variety), wood pulp both unitised and non-unitised, newsprint, chemicals like wattle bark and its extract, DDT, hides and skins, lighterage of gasoline in drums, firecrackers, refrigerated cargoes like shrimps, ores in bulk like manganese, iron, barites and pig iron, copper ingots, steel cargoes like plates, pipes and coils, raw fertilisers in bulk like phosphate, sulphur, coal in bulk and even livestock like race horses and wild animals.
With their experience in handling various cargoes they began developing indigenous and effective methods of handling these cargoes to cater to the customised needs of the clients, resulting in faster turnaround time of the vessels calling under the agencies of their principals.
The firm were the first to handle the concept of Lash Barge when introduced into this Port. Furthermore, with the introduction of containerised cargo, prior to the inception of the present dedicated terminal and equipments for handling containers, this firm held the record of handling 120 TEUS in an eight-hour shift using manual spreaders with ship cranes and also for loading 4,000 M.T. of sugar in bulk manually on a single day.
